How Many People Died in Pearl Harbor?
According to historical estimates, how many people died in Pearl Harbor is believed to be at least 2,400 (most sources put the number of fallen Americans to be 2,403). Of those, approximately 1,117 were Navy, 233 were Army, 109 were Marines, and 68 were civilians. But there were also many Coast Guard personnel, Allied personnel, foreign nationals, and unaccounted for individuals that lost their lives. It is also estimated that around 55 Japanese airmen died during the attack.
On top of the fatal casualties, 1,178 people were wounded during the attack on Pearl Harbor, making it the deadliest and most violent event ever recorded in Hawaii.
